Almost End of Week Re-Cap

One more sleep until the cottage. It was supposed to be Emily and Mark and the cottage, and that's it. We haven't actually seen much of each other this summer and figured let's take advantage of this one week where we don't have a wedding or baseball game and have some time alone to actually talk to each other for longer than it takes me to fall asleep at night.

The cottage weekend is now Emily, Mark, parents AND grandparents. I am for the most part ok with it, because I have no other choice. However, I am not sure how long we will actually stay up there. It's going to be a little crowded.

The back to school shopping has been done, I can't believe that grade six begins on Tuesday. I have officially started my say no to drugs campaign.

This week has been oddly slow in the mornings and incredibly busy in the afternoons. Strange way to spend the day. Mornings drag by and afternoons do not have enough hours.

One week until the 2nd annual All Girls, No Boys Allowed Cottage Weekend. S0.Much.Fun.
Girlie drinks and a Seadoo. It doesn't get much better than that.

Today isn't looking so good. I am feeling quite under the weather and with a bad headache. Been feeling that way for a while now, thinking I am fighting something.

Hope to last the morning, but may need to go home to rest this afternoon.

Well, this was about the most boring post ever. Maybe something will happen on the weekend that will be worth an interesting post.

7 months until the wedding. Holy Crap!

He's Back

After China ate my brother, China puked and Bobby landed in Kanata at 2:00 am on Tuesday morning.

We had dinner, he played with the radio "trying" to find a station to avoid doing the dishes.

Just like 15 years ago.

Some things don't change.

The puppy is cute. She has nice clothes.

China Ate My Brother

Bobby's been in China for what feels like a month and I have heard from him only once. So much for that email he promised.

I think China ate him.

August 21st is his return date to Canada.

Let the countdown begin.

Skunks: 1, Emily: 0 (and other random blogging)

I really had no intention of blogging this week. Going with the same "blog on vacation, along with blogger" thing that Kris disapproved of last time I was on vacation.

Here's the thing. It's Friday night, Joe's at his Aunt's watching a movie and I was just walking out the door to get him when I was ambushed by giant skunks that are having a late night snack on whatever icky grossness is contained in the four yellow garbage bags out front.

So here I sit, held hostage by M. and Mme. LePew with my son somewhat stranded (not that he minds) at his Aunt's.

Thankfully, Uncle Kevin will arrive shortly, in his silver rescue mini-van, chase away my captors and deliver Joe safely.

Oh and if you're wondering why I am sitting at home on a Friday night when Joe's watching a movie at his Aunt's, it's because I have no life and Mark is away and (this is so going to make you throw up in your mouth a little) I am pouty and missing him.

Yeah, bite me, we are in fact one of those couples that hates it when one half of said couple leaves for an extended period of time.

Sidenote - Mark is with Little Ray (of www.raysreptiles.com ) who would so know how to handle my skunk issue. He's not all about the reptiles you know.

Check out the site, visit the zoo often. If "Ray" is around, he puts on a great show.

Bobby

A poem to Bobby

Bobby, Bobby, brother of mine
So many years I have heard you wine
About the times I beat you up
When you were just a small young pup

But then one day you grew very tall
I never knew how far I'd fall
I paid my dues for every hit
I likely deserved only a little bit

So tall and handsome
The girls think you are
You're just a great big Superstar

The red-blonde hair
And blue-grey eyes
You're competition to all the guys

You "do" your hair
And dress real well
I think you're gay
But I'll never tell

You're Mom's pride and joy
You're Dad's biggest hope
As your sister I think
You're just a dope

My poem must end
For now it is time
To suffer at your hands
The worst ridicule of all time

Happy birthday Sally!

To Move or Not to Move - That IS the Question

Here is where your comments come in super handy.

We're thinking of making a big giant leap and moving across the street. All the way to the other side.

Why you ask? Here are my reasons:

1. Currently living in 2 bedroom house would be exchanging for 3 bedrooms
2. Finished basement
3. Backs on to the park
4. Only $100 more per month
5. What if we don't get the house we want in the spring and/or can't afford it - then we're stuck in our wee house for who knows how long
6. Could potentially increase family size and not outgrow the house
7. Can furnish more than the one I have now and will have somewhere to put lovely wedding gifts and might actually enjoy registering for same when we know we have room for them.

Comment away people.
